About OnlyFaxes
A free, no-signup fax tool built by a solo developer who got tired of paying $10 to send a single page.
OnlyFaxes started with a simple question: why does it cost money to send one fax? Every existing service wanted a credit card, an account, or a monthly subscription before you could send a single page. For something most people need maybe once or twice a year, that felt wrong.
So I built OnlyFaxes. No signup, no credit card, no ads. Upload your document, type the fax number, and send. The service is funded by optional dedicated fax number subscriptions and donations from people who find it useful.
How we protect your documents
Encryption, automatic deletion, and a few things we will not claim.
- Encrypted at rest and in transit
- Every uploaded document is stored with AES-256 encryption, and all traffic between your browser and our servers travels over TLS.
- Auto-expiring storage
- Free-tier fax records and uploaded files expire automatically. Nothing sits around waiting for someone to remember to delete it.
- Private storage
- Documents live in private storage, not on a public website. Access is limited to the systems that send and receive your faxes.
Faxing sensitive documents

Fax is still widely used in healthcare, legal, and government because many organizations require it by policy. OnlyFaxes encrypts your documents at rest with AES-256 and in transit over TLS between your browser and our servers. The last hop to the recipient's fax machine travels over the telephone network.
We do not keep fax content past the retention window. We do not display ads, do not sell or share your data with third parties for marketing, and do not use your documents for training or analytics.
What we do not claim: OnlyFaxes is not a HIPAA-covered entity and does not offer a Business Associate Agreement (BAA). If your workflow requires a BAA or certified HIPAA compliance, you should use a service that provides one. For everyday faxing of intake forms, prescriptions, and records requests where a BAA is not mandated by your organization, our encryption and auto-deletion provide a reasonable level of protection.
