Sending Faxes
- How do I send a fax?
- Go to the home page, enter the recipient's fax number, upload your document (PDF, JPG, PNG, WEBP, TIF, BMP, GIF, HEIC, or TXT), add your email for delivery confirmation, and click Send Fax. No signup or account needed.
- What file formats are supported?
- We support PDF, JPG, PNG, WEBP, TIF, BMP, GIF, HEIC (iPhone photos), and plain text (TXT) files up to 10MB on the free tier (50MB for dedicated number subscribers). Multi-page TIF files are fully supported, and each page is converted into a separate fax page.
- How many pages can I send per fax?
- Free users can send up to 10 pages per fax. Dedicated number subscribers can send up to 40 pages per fax.
- How long does a fax take to deliver?
- Most faxes deliver within 1-5 minutes depending on the number of pages and the receiving fax machine. You'll receive an email confirmation once delivery is complete.
- Can I add a cover sheet?
- Yes. When sending a fax, click the Cover Sheet button to add recipient name, sender name, subject, and a message. The cover sheet is added as the first page of your fax.
- What countries can I send faxes to?
- Free users can send to the US, Canada, UK, and Mexico. Dedicated number subscribers can send to over 75 countries worldwide.
Receiving Faxes
- Can I receive faxes for free?
- Yes. Enter your email on the home page and we'll generate a QR code. When someone sends a fax with your QR code attached, the fax is forwarded to your email. The QR code never expires.
- How does the dedicated fax number work for receiving?
- With a dedicated fax number, any fax sent to your number is automatically delivered to your email inbox. No QR codes needed. Just share your fax number like a traditional fax line.
Security & Privacy
- Is my data secure?
- Yes. All transmissions are encrypted using 256-bit AES encryption. We do not display ads or sell your data.
- How long do you keep my data?
- All data, including uploaded files, phone numbers, and email addresses, is automatically deleted after 90 days. Dedicated number subscribers have unlimited fax history storage.
- Do you read or access my fax documents?
- No. Your documents are processed automatically for transmission and are never manually reviewed by our team.

- Is OnlyFaxes really free?
- Yes. Sending faxes is completely free with no signup required. We sustain the free service through dedicated fax number subscriptions and voluntary user donations.
- What does the dedicated number subscription include?
- For $4.99/month (US, Canada, UK) or $9.99/month (Mexico), you get your own dedicated fax number, 200+ pages per month, up to 40 pages per fax, fax-to-email delivery, unlimited fax history, international coverage, and priority support. Setup is free.
- Can I cancel my subscription anytime?
- Yes. You can cancel your dedicated number subscription at any time through your account or by contacting support. There are no cancellation fees or long-term contracts.
Technical
- Do I need to install any software?
- No. OnlyFaxes works entirely in your web browser on any device: phone, tablet, or desktop. We also offer iOS and Android apps if you prefer a native experience.
- Can I port my existing fax number?
- Yes. Dedicated number subscribers can transfer an existing fax number to OnlyFaxes. We check portability during the signup process and guide you through the requirements.
- What if my fax fails to send?
- You'll receive an email notification with the specific error. Common issues include invalid fax numbers, busy lines, or incompatible fax machines. You can re-send at any time.
